Students understand the systems and technologies that facilitate the management and use of information resources to serve the diverse needs of users.

• a. Students identify and analyze diverse information needs of individuals and communities.

For this exercise I was tasked with a series of reference questions. I then determined the needs of the “patrons” and located information and resources ton assist.

• b. Students evaluate and select print and digital information resources and systems to meet needs of users.

I performed a mock reference interview where I helped a patron locate a resource using a database. In the video, I assist with search functions and filters commonly found on scholarly databases.

• c. Students understand and use appropriate information technology for information services.

Using Omeka I created a digital library focused on items of medical history. To create the collection I had to use the Omeka application, as well as use digital resources to find the items. I also needed to access and understand the metadata of each item in order to catalogue them and ensure their copyright statuses.
